PET (Polyethylene Terephthalate) Resin
Poly (ethylene terphthalate) is manufactured from ethylene glycol and terephthalic acid or lsts ester dimethyl terephthalate upto 1961, all the Poly tethylene terephthalate was obtained from dimethyl terephthalate. Terephthalic acid of high purity was not available at that time. Now it is manufactured in equal quantities form both terephthalic acid and its ester. PET is a thermoplastic, polyester formed from ethylene glycol by direct esterification or by catalyzed ester exchange between ethylene glycol and dimethyl terephthalate. PET Resin is used for making for PET Bottle, Jar, etc.
