Fungicides fall into two general classifications. Agricultural and industrial. Fungicides for plants act by direct contact and often injume the host as well as the fungus. Fungi are parasitic plants comprising of molds, muldews, rusts, smuts, mushrooms, and allied forms that are capable of destroying higher plants. They may attack seeds, the growing plant and plant materials. Fungicides are used as dusts sprays or pastes for destroying pathogen on dormant plant parts disinfection or disinfectation). They also give protective cover to plant parts to prevent subsequent infection. The quality of a fungicide is therefore judged by the extent to which these twin objectives are achieved. The chemical control of plant diseases is moderately expensive and to achieve good results it should be carried out according to the advice tendered by technical experts of this field. The treatment should be given at the right time and with an approved fungicide.
